Pelotón de la Muerte Espadín is a joven mezcal made from 100% espadín agave in Tlacolula, Oaxaca. The agave is cooked in a lava rock lined pit for five days, crushed with a tahona, fermented in the open air and double distilled in 200 liter copper pots. It is bottled at 41% ABV and sells for roughly $34 to $42.

The entirely savory aromatic set yields to some sweetness on the palate, more like vinegar-spiked fruit, but this is primarily a savory mezcal, briny and appetizing.
Gentle smoke and a soft palate; a great higher end Mezcal for the novice Mezcal drinker, but after they're already gotten over the hump and don't need to be convinced they might like Mezcal in the first place.
