Marie Brizard Crème de Cacao is a French liqueur made from cocoa beans sourced from Venezuela or the Ivory Coast. The liqueur is distilled and infused with vanilla and spices by the Marie Brizard Liqueur Master. It is available in both white and dark versions, bottled at 25% ABV and typically priced around $20-25.
A lot of sugar dominates on the tongue, muscling out the cocoa, with clear vanilla notes lingering on the very lengthy and quite sweet finish. Other than the brusque attack, it’s fantastically straightforward.
It resembles dark-chocolate syrup in appearance, aroma, flavor and mouthfeel, and would be lovely in espresso-based cocktails or poured over ice cream.
