Mainland Rum Florida 7 Years is produced by Florida Caribbean Distillers in Auburndale, Florida, using blackstrap molasses made from Florida sugarcane. The rum is aged entirely in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and bottled at cask strength of 56.8% ABV (113.6 proof). It is an independent bottling selected by Seth Benhaim's Mainland Rum brand, which sources standout barrels from American mainland producers.
I did want to like this more as it feels good to support American distilleries. Sadly, at the end of the day, this tastes like a rum distilled in a highly efficient column still, stripped of flavor, then stuck in a not great quality sherry cask. Disappointing for me.
