Koopers Father's Office Cigar Blend Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a Texas-finished bourbon distilled by MGP in Indiana from a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. It aged eight years total, with two years in Indiana and six years in Ledbetter, Texas, then was double-finished with Brazilian Amburana oak staves for seven weeks and Japanese Mizunara oak staves for twelve weeks. It is bottled at 57% ABV (114 proof) and retails for $84 per 750ml, with only 378 bottles produced.

  • The Amburana is in the lead carrying the distillate across the finish line, while the Mizunara adds a supporting role of temperance. A whole lot of spice here, almost to the point of this actually being a spiced whiskey.

  • It certainly drinks on the young side, but not immature, caramel and vanilla hitting the palate like a highly-dosed latte, well-drizzled with melted Hershey’s bars.
