Giffard Elderflower Alcohol Free is a non-alcoholic aperitif produced in France. It is made through the maceration of hand-picked elderflowers in white wine vinegar, combined with water, sugar, concentrated lemon juice and natural flavorings. A bottle typically retails for around $28. Golden yellow in color, it offers pronounced floral aromas with notes of lychee and saffron. Brand tasting notes describe a palate of exotic lychee, rose and wormwood, balanced by a light acidity.
Part of the Giffard Alcohol Free range, it is designed to bring aromatic intensity and structure to cocktails, and can be used in alcohol-free versions of classics like the Spritz, Negroni and Aviation.
Giffard was founded in 1885 by pharmacist Emile Giffard in Angers, Loire Valley. He created Menthe-Pastille, a white mint liqueur, which became an immediate success and led him to turn his pharmacy into a distillery. Still family-run, Giffard produces liqueurs, crèmes, guignolets, and syrups using carefully sourced plants and fruits, often from the Loire Valley, and traditional maceration methods to extract flavor. Each batch is blended, filtered, and taste-tested for quality.
The company emphasizes sustainability and social responsibility, with solar-powered production, water recycling, eco-friendly bottles, and support for local projects and NGOs like 1001 FONTAINES.
