Released Aug. 19, 2025, this is 2025's annual release of Four Roses' Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon — a highly coveted expression priced at $249. 2025's edition is a blend of four bourbons: 13-year-old OBSV (38%), 13-year-old OESV (35%), 13-year-old OBSK (17%) and 19-year-old OESV (10%). For those unfamiliar with Four Roses' recipes and their corresponding codes, the first letter is always "O" and signifies Four Roses. The second letter is either "B" or "E" and refers to one of Four Roses' two mashbills. The third letter is always "S" (Straight Distillation). The final letter indicates which of Four Roses' five yeast strains was used in the making of the whiskey. The two used in this year's blend are "V" (said to impart notes of delicate fruit) and "K" (said to add light spice). This year's release is bottled at 109.1 proof.

Rich, gorgeous nose full of waxy fruits and deep sweetness. Honeycrisp apple, apricot and blueberry pie filling meet mocha, molasses, confectioners' sugar, tapioca and cinnamon.
Lovely viscosity with truly the perfect amount of oak on the palate. Crème brûlée, Demerara sugar, caramel, cherry, coffee grounds, cinnamon, anise, oak and tannin, frosting, tobacco.
The finish kicks off with spice — cinnamon, clove and peppercorns — plus more tobacco. Fruity flavors soon follow — cherry and honeycrisp apple, mostly — and then cocoa powder, a pinch of tea and a final pop of bubblegum.
The 2025 release of Four Roses' Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon is a home run. It's a paragon of a perfectly oaky, balanced bourbon. It's deep and sweet yet light and fruity, and there's moderate rye spice throughout. A masterful blend from Brent Elliott, this bourbon is rich and delicious from first sip to the last lingering note of the finish. This should be regarded as one of the best bourbons of 2025.
