Burnside Goose Hollow Reserve is made by Eastside Distilling in Portland, Oregon. It's a blend of straight bourbon whiskies aged 4 to 7 years, then finished for 45 days in Garryana oak casks made from Oregon white oak. The bourbon is bottled at 46% ABV and typically sells for around $40.
The palate is light, sweet, and airy, yielding lemon cupcake, candied orange, powdered doughnut, and a drizzle of honey. The finish doesn’t break any new ground—it’s straightforward in its sugary sweetness.
This one relies less on the fruitiness of grain and is more a story direct from the wood. Tastes of glazed donuts are present, as well as almond butter, snickerdoodles, and a pleasant toasted wheat bread finish that pairs perfectly with the minuscule presence of heat that activates with each gulp.
