Botran Ron de Guatemala No. 8 is produced by Industria Licorera Quetzalteca. The brand oversees all production stages, from sugar cane cultivation in Retalhuleu to fermentation with pineapple yeast and distillation in copper stills. The distillates age at high altitude in Quetzaltenango using a modified Solera method. Blended by three master blenders and bottled in Mixco, this expression combines rums aged five to eight years in ex-American whisky, medium toasted ex-American whisky and ex-oloroso sherry casks. It rests at 40% ABV.
Overall, I think Botran No. 8 is a decent mixing rum, but it didn’t really wow me enough to make a huge impression. Though it has a pleasant flavor and a nice mouthfeel, I think I would be hesitant to pick up another bottle.
