Amaro Amara is a Sicilian bitter produced on the slopes of Mount Etna in Contrada San Martino. It is made in small quantities using Arance Rosse di Sicilia PGI grown without chemicals in family-owned orange groves. The orange peels are infused seven times with alcohol and wild herbs, then blended with spring water from Mount Etna.
This is a bit much to drink on its own — but in lieu of triple sec or another orange liqueur in a cocktail, it offers a slight but noticeable spin on the familiar.
