Bénédictine is an herbal liqueur created by Alexandre Le Grand in the 19th century. Produced in France, it is flavored with a blend of 27 flowers, berries, herbs, roots and spices, including angelica root, hyssop, juniper, myrrh, saffron, mace, fir cones, aloe, arnica, lemon balm, tea, thyme, coriander, clove, lemon, vanilla, orange peel, honey, red berries, cinnamon and nutmeg.

  • It drinks rather viscous, but sweet and fresh, pleasant enough to sip neat or over ice, but best to add sweet-herbal-woodsy notes to cocktails such as a classic Vieux Carré.
