  • Nonetheless, the drink is bold and rich with some enticing maltiness riding underneath, very reminiscent of a salt-rimmed tequila cocktail, and best served over a generous helping of ice with a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime.

  • The Parch Prickly Paloma doesn’t seem to aim for replication a classic Paloma, but it offers a compelling agave-inspired experience in its own right. While the briny, saline notes are a standout, a touch more fresh citrus brightness would help round out the profile. The botanical elements could come through more distinctly to add greater complexity. Still, it’s a thoughtful and flavorful zero-proof option.

  • Nose:

A wave of effervescence hits first, reminiscent of a fizzy fruit soda or sweet sparkling wine. It gives way to fruit-forward aromas—think ripe strawberry, melon, grape and a twist of citrus zest. It really smells like sprite and strawberry and sparkling grape juice were mixed together.

  • Taste:

While it doesn’t mimic a classic Paloma, it carries a distinct agave-like character that echoes tequila-based cocktails. Up front, you’re met with bold, soda-sweet fruit notes, but they’re quickly balanced by a surprising wave of salinity that pulls it back into agave territory. It’s rich and full-bodied—best served over ice to mellow the intensity with some dilution.

  • Finish:

The sweetness fades rather quickly and leaves a lingering herbal bitter note that has a citrus zest and pith edge.
