The process for Richland Single Estate Old South Georgia Rum Port Cask Exchange starts with aging Richland Rum for approximately 3 years. Afterward, select casks are temporarily transferred to new barrels. These emptied casks are then used by Chateau Elan Winery in Braselton, Georgia, to age Port for about 1 year. Once the port is bottled, the barrels return to the Richland Distillery, where the original rum is placed back into them and aged for about 1 year before bottling.
