Alongside brands like Del Maguey and Ilegal, Mezcal Unión is one of the most recognizable names in the fast-expanding American mezcal market. Unlike many distillers, however, its flagship expression — Unión Uno — is made not only from Agave Espadin but Agave Madrecuixe as well. It's quite rare to see Madrecuixe packaged up into an affordable bottle, much less be mass produced to the scale that Mezcal Unión is operating on. Let's see what its got going on.

Apples, pears, mango and fresh bread on the nose, it’s floral, fruity and sweet. Enticing, easy on the nose.
Thin on the palate, crisp and clean. Sweet vanilla, apples, banana, honey and cracked pepper sit nicely on the palate. No sign of ethanol, it’s mostly sweet, fruity and the hint of pepper balances.
Short finish, quick and clean. There’s not much beyond fruit and pepper here, but it makes for an easy sipper.
This pour is easy to approach, easy to drink and it also pulls its weight for a clean paloma without breaking a sweat. Good but not incredible.
