  • A great spice bomb with an explosive finish full of more cinnamon spice, cooked fruit, and chocolate sweetness.

  • I marked it down as B+/A-, but as is usually the case, when I leave a grade like that to sit for a while, I erred on the side of conservatism and made it a B+. I tell you that, however, so you understand that this is the best bottle of Booker’s I’ve seen in a while, certainly so far in the 2020s.

  • The first Booker’s batch of 2022, Ronnie’s Batch is a straightforward affair that packs a cinnamon centered punch, but doesn’t quite reach the heights Booker’s is capable of.

  • Overall, if this is the first Booker's of 2022, then it will be a bright and flavorful year. Powerful, complex, brimming with great flavor, the often times unbridled and punishing Booker's settles into a great profile for Ronnie's Batch.

  • Nose:

Roasty and toasty, 2022's first Booker's release is packed with honey, graham cracker, a touch of pepper, and a heat and sweet component that's hard to place. It's sweet, savory, a little bit spicy.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, a little lighter on ethanol than past releases, and plenty rich. Tons of honey, butter cream, roasted peanuts, graham cracker, cocoa. Sweet oak hangs on throughout, with a pleasant, roasted praline character.

  • Finish:

Long finish, sweet, oaky and dry. That roasted nut character hangs on with plenty of toffee, butter cream, brown butter, pepper, baking spice and clove to last a decade.

  • Overall:

Overall, if this is the first Booker's of 2022, then it will be a bright and flavorful year. Powerful, complex, brimming with great flavor, the often times unbridled and punishing Booker's settles into a great profile for Ronnie's Batch.
