  • It’s quite drinkable for an 18% ABV cocktail, and the subtle heat makes it appealing to those who prefer a spicy cocktail that isn’t too spicy.

  • Nose:

Zesty lime peel, salt, cayenne and young agave on the nose.

  • Taste:

Punchy, with an ethanol kick up front, followed by lime, blanco tequila and hints of straw, stewed agave, poblano pepper, black peppercorn and jalapeño.

  • Finish:

Lime juice, more jalapeño and a touch of agave syrup lead into a short, tart, boozy finish.

  • Overall:

It’s quite drinkable for an 18% ABV cocktail, and the subtle heat makes it appealing to those who prefer a spicy cocktail that isn’t too spicy. That said, I’d personally love even a little more heat, tang or a triple sec note to add depth. It’s not overly complex, making it a great candidate for a juicy citrus garnish and a Tajín rim when chilled, poured and served.
