Bruce’s Blue Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is produced by Jeptha Creed Distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky using a proprietary heirloom blue corn varietal grown on the distillery’s farm. The mash bill consists of 75% Bruce’s Blue corn, 20% malted rye and 5% malted barley. The bourbon is bottled at 50% ABV and typically retails for $59.99.
The palate follows suit and introduces additional complexity. Sweet corn hits first along with a bit of an alcohol bite, followed by cinnamon-covered apples, fresh cracked black pepper, orange pith, caramel, ginger, clove, and oak.
