Old Grand-Dad 86 Proof was a Kentucky straight bourbon made with a high-rye mashbill of 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley. It was bottled at 43% ABV until 2013 when the proof was reduced to 80. The bourbon featured the same recipe used for Basil Hayden bourbon but at a higher proof.
Entry improves matters as appetizing tastes of bacon fat and corn meal dominate; the midpalate improves even further as the oak balances the grain tastes.
