The Honorable Distillery, a Marquette, Michigan-based craft spirits producer, hosted a focus group on Saturday aimed at refining the recipe for its forthcoming gin, WLUC-TV reported.

As part of its seasonal offerings, which include special editions for summer, fall and winter, the distillery sought to craft a unique blend for the spring season. The focus group, consisting of local residents, had the opportunity to sample six distinct variations of gin, each infused with different “fresh and floral” elements, per the report.

Kenna Koffman, a bartender and social media strategist at The Honorable Distillery, described the event as a creative endeavor that allowed community members to actively participate in the product development process.

“All of these people in the focus group today will be able to say that they were part of the spring gin that went out into the public,” Koffman said, per WLUC-TV.

“So, community involvement, and you know we taste things; we’re trained to, so to get just regular patrons flavor palettes through is really helpful for us when gathering information.”

In addition to tasting the gin samples, participants were treated to a tour of the distillery and received a complimentary bottle to take home.

The eagerly awaited spring gin is scheduled for release on March 20.

The Honorable Distillery was established by Anne White and Scott Anderson. The duo’s integrity and dedication to the nuclear cleanup industry influenced the choice of the name “The Honorable.” Located in the former Nordic Theater, the distillery offers a range of vodka, gin, bourbon and rye whiskey. The renovated theater houses a production facility and tasting room, preserving its historic charm. Through partnerships with local artisans, the distillery embodies a commitment to community and excellent distillation practices.
