Released in late 2024, Hoodoo Espresso is described by producer Cathead Distillery as both a "coffee flavored vodka" and a ready-to-drink espresso martini. Bottled at 60 proof (30% ABV), Hoodoo Espresso is made with Cathead Vodka, direct trade coffee from Northshore and Demerara sugar. It has a suggested retail price of $34.95 and contains 50 milligrams of caffeine per 1.5 ounces. According to the brand, one bottle contains about eight servings.

Cathead Distillery is based in Jackson, Mississippi.

  • Nose:

    Great, rich nose. Pleasant coffee, dried fruit, cocoa.

  • Taste:

    Thick viscosity. Boozy and tasty. Vodka brings some heat, but the coffee flavors largely drown out any ethanol notes. Espresso, vanilla, dark chocolate.

  • Finish:

    Cocoa powder and espresso bean link up for a very enjoyable finish.

  • Overall:

    The bottle recommends either drinking alone or shaken with milk. I tried it both ways. With milk is more of an espresso martini vibe; the color lightens up, and it’s a bit less boozy, but the bottle has enough quality and mouthfeel as is to enjoy without milk — so long as you’re OK with some burn. Overall, this is a tasty, boozy RTD cocktail — a great Espresso Martini with a rich mouthfeel and a luxurious flavor profile.
