Old Emmer Double Toasted Oak Bourbon Whiskey Series No. 03, often called “Ol’ Emmy,” is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Old Emmer that honors the ancient wheat strain emmer. The bourbon uses a proprietary wheated mash bill and is finished with double-toasted American oak staves before bottling at 44% ABV in 750 ml bottles. It typically retails for about $99.99 to $109.99.

Per the brand, it shows aromas of butterscotch and vanilla with toasted oak. The palate carries smooth, sweet butterscotch and vanilla flavors, followed by a warming oak finish with charred wood and subtle spice.

  • Rich and chocolatey with a lingering finish lifted with some spice to balance out the sweetness; carries its ABV very well.

  • Lively, juicy red fruit up front gives way to cinnamon sparkle. Adding water entices toasted almond and toasted oak forward, plus a flurry of nutmeg.
