Dirwest, a company with a name that means “temperance” in Welsh, produces nonalcoholic beverages that prioritize taste, mouthfeel and enjoyment. The beer itself very pale, and very light, but that shouldn’t lead you to think there’s not much to it. It feels a bit odd to say it about such a proudly Welsh product, but this has all the characteristics of a really good German lager, including that bitter bite lacking from so many big-brand lagers. If you’re in search of authenticity in the lager category, this is a good place to start.
