‘The Gin of Your Martini Dreams’: Citadelle’s Pickle-Infused Expression Returns for a Limited Time

On Wednesday, Citadelle Gin Owner and Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel announced the annual limited-edition release of Citadelle Gin Vive le Cornichon, a spirit infused with gherkins sourced from an artisan producer of French vegetables.

To craft Vive le Cornichon, Citadelle Gin’s base is infused with gherkins sourced from Maison Marc, the last remaining commercial cornichon producer in France. Their cucumbers, cultivated in Burgundy, are nurtured without the use of insecticides, herbicides or preservatives, emphasizing a commitment to quality and tradition.

First debuted in 2022 as part of the French spirit producer’s “Les Excentriques” collection, Citadelle’s pickle-honoring gin is designed to be perfect for a martini thanks to its briney, savory profile.

Citadelle Gin Vive le Cornichon, resting at 43.8% ABV, is now available nationwide at a suggested retail price of $39.99 per 700ml bottle.

Citadelle Gin Vive le Cornichon Tasting Notes, Via the Brand

Nose: Intense, herbaceous notes of juniper and aniseed, followed by the vinegar and green aspects of the pickles that add a salty dimension.

Palate: Juniper opens the way to a voluptuous and fresh flavor, salty and vinegary.

Finish: Long and persistent with a subtle touch of mustard and pearl onions.

For pickle enthusiasts, November 14, International Pickle Day, is the perfect occasion to savor a Citadelle Le Cornichon Martini. This unique cocktail includes a dash of cornichon brine and a crunchy cornichon garnish.

Le Cornichon Martini Recipe

2 oz Citadelle Gin Vive le Cornichon
0.5 oz Dry Vermouth
1 bar spoon of cornichon juice

Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a cornichon and enjoy!
