Bardstown Bourbon Company Cathedral French Oak is delicious and impressive with its layered, sweet and rich oak notes that draw in your nose and make you never want to take it out of the glass.
For their inaugural Distillery Reserve line, Bardstown Bourbon Company delivers an exquisite blend of high-aged Kentucky whiskey finished for 14 months in barrels made of 300 year old French oak and packaged in 375mL bottles to make it accessible to a greater number of bourbon fans.
This is no gimmick with the whiskey inside being even better than the beautiful presentation. While I would have loved to try a whiskey that spent its entire life maturing in those 300 year old oak barrels its pretty clear the impact they had on shaping the flavor profile after only 14 months.
